Practice Hours (by appointment)

Monday to Friday: 9am – 12 noon 1.30pm – 5pm
Please note we are closed from 12 noon to 1.30pm to complete paperwork and to enable our staff
to have their lunch break.

For appointments during our usual business hours, please phone us (03) 2487146. We are a busy Practice, so an appointment is required. Please do not just arrive asking to be seen.

Our appointment time is 15 minutes. Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our
receptionist for a double appointment if you have more than two problems to discuss with the doctor. There is an additional cost for this. If you or a family member requires an interpreter service, we can arrange this for you. Please let us know at the time you make the appointment.

Test Results

During your appointment, our doctor may request some clinical investigation blood tests done
either routinely or to assist in diagnosis. You can phone and request your results from one of the
nurses.

Blood Tests

Our receptionist will ask you when you book, if this is a routine blood test we have requested or whether it is from a specialist. Please note there is a charge for all blood tests.

If the blood test has been requested by a specialist we need to have the Blood Test Request Form emailed to us at so we can confirm if we can complete these blood tests here or whether they need to be completed at a lab.

Please note we are unable to do some blood tests here as some blood tests are time sensitive or need to be taken at a lab.

As we use couriers to get these to the lab, they won’t arrive prior to the time they need to be tested, so these will need to be completed at a lab in Gore/Invercargill or Queenstown.

Public Holidays & Weekends

We are closed on public holidays and weekends.

If you are an enrolled patient at Lumsden Medical Centre and need to see a doctor on a weekend or public holiday, please phone (03) 2481746 and follow the instructions you are given by our After Hours Triage Team.

Alternatively you can make an appointment at the Invercargill Urgent Doctors by phoning them on (03) 2188821. They hold a clinic located at 105 Don Street Invercargill. Please note there is a charge for these appointments.

After Hours Care Arrangements

Our practice provides After Hours Care via an After Hours Triage system and a team of trained nurses. If you think you need to see a doctor after hours, phone the normal practice phone number (03) 2487146 and your call will be diverted to our Triage Service. You will speak with a nurse who will assess your need to be seen by a doctor.

In case of an emergency call 111 for an ambulance or if unsure call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

Missed Appointments

Please let us know if you are unable to attend your booked appointment. We have a limited number of appointments available each day and someone who is unwell may need your appointment time. Rather than just not arriving for your appointment, please let us know so we can
allocate this to another patient. We may charge you a fee for a missed appointment.

Unpaid accounts

Payment is on the day via EFTPOS, Cash or Direct Credit to our Bank Account. All outstanding accounts will be sent to our debt collection agency if left unpaid. You will incur extra costs if your account is passed onto the Debt Collection agency. If you would like to set up an automatic payment, please ask at reception. If you are having difficulty paying your account please phone and speak to our administrator.

Prescriptions

You are able to phone and request a repeat prescription of your regular medication, if you have been seen by a doctor for a medical review recently. Please allow two business days for your prescription to be ready. There is a charge for your repeat prescription. Once your repeat prescription has been processed, you will receive a text or email from us confirming it has been sent to the pharmacy of your choice and the payment that is required, along with our Bank Account number. Please note that you will be informed if you need a medical review with a doctor.

Recall System

Our practice is committed to your health care. We may send you a recall text from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your medical care, such as flu vaccinations
etc.
